After buying his first piece of land in 1997, Trevor Sherman launched Ithaca Organics and started bringing home-grown organic produce to the Market every Saturday in 2020. Any time you shop their produce or CBD products, you'll be greeted by their smiling and knowledgeable Greenhouse Manager, Cheryl Sinkowski. Last year, she recalls, was a great year for Ithaca Organics. “We appreciate the CNY Regional Market and the customer base that we’ve built up in the last two years. Our customers are good and loyal, I love talking to them. It feels like family.”

Winter season is root veggie season for Ithaca Organics. Turnips, onions, cabbage, garlic, shallots, beets, carrots and sweet carrots, and potatoes...they have alllll of this season's staples. And they're so SPUD-tacular that they'll even be supplying this list through the end of April.

As the weather changes each season, Cheryl explained, so do the responsibilities for farmers. The spring consists of greenhouse work and sowing seeds all day long. In late spring, it's time to start transplanting which requires Cheryl and colleague, Randy, to hang off the back of the tractor to transplant on the water wheel. By the time the hot heat rolls around in the summer, all their hardwork is finally ready to harvest. Cheryl is in charge of the tomato and pepper work which consists of hours of pruning and trellising, both of which she adamantly shared, has to be done just right. As the fall leaves start changing, more crops pop up and the team collaborates to complete end of the year cleaning.
