Oats, granola, baked goods, oatmeal bread...these two tough cookies are a must meet. Bruce and Meg Schader have been vendors at the Market since they started Wake Robin Farm over 20 years ago. Their farm is located in Jordan, NY, about 30 minutes west of the market.

Known for their commitment to quality and enthusiasm for small-scale agriculture, the Schaders’ business has evolved and taken many forms over the years. Established in 1999 as an organic vegetable farm and CSA, they grew to become a small pasture-based dairy and processing plant from 2006 to 2019. In 2020, the Schaders sold their cows and dairy plant equipment, turning their attention to their on-farm bakery, small grain production, and cut flower operation.

Bruce is a third generation farmer, and both his maternal and paternal grandparents sold on the B line at CNY Regional Market. Meg studied agriculture at Cornell—but learned everything she knows about farming from Bruce and his family. Longtime customers have watched Bruce and Meg’s son, Hugh, grow up on their farm and help at market.

The Schaders use their own homegrown oats in their granola, cookies, and oatmeal bread, and this year they are growing wheat to mill for their bakery. They also grow 50+ varieties of cut flowers on their 160-acre farm.

A steady, year-round presence at the market, the Schaders have deep roots in the community—and deep gratitude for the consumers who have supported their unique agricultural journey since 1999.
