Always BEE curious…just like our enthusiastic vendor, Jon Berry, who's been a lifelong learner for 83 years!

Jon loves bringing his honeybee products to the Market and has developed a great clientele, many of whom have become friends. “It’s a pleasure, I’m 83 years old and I come home every Saturday feeling good! The Market has the lowest prices for the best products. We encourage everyone to shop at Farmers Markets.”
This honeybee vendor has been a Beekeeper for 40 years, offering honey, beeswax, candles, lip balm, honey soap, and creamed honey. After retiring from GE, Jon became intrigued in beehives from his sister-in-law who shared the passion. So Jon hit the books and after months of research, he decided he could create a business with these newly found buzzing friends. He purchased his sis's beehives and became a nurturer of nature. Years later, he's still vending with us weekly and will proudly inform you that his candles are paraben-free and his honey is not diluted.

Jon explained that beekeeping consists of constantly learning and adapting to an incredibly challenging trade. Thankfully, his experience raising other animals provided him with a solid foundation and understanding of how to best work with nature. It set him up for success to pursue beekeeping. Today, he most enjoys standing in the bee yard where he can witness and appreciate all there is to learn about honeybees, which according to Jon, there's a lot! Every day as a beekeeper is different. The end of the summer, for example, is the most labor-intensive. It's the time of year when he's out collecting honey directly from the hives. Although it's the hardest time of year, Jon shared that it's also the most rewarding part.
