Born in her Italian grandmother's house on Park Street -- only up the road from the Regional Market -- it makes complete sense that Kim DeMascole would become a lifelong vendor here!

"I was about 20 when we first started coming to the Market. I took right to it. I felt the energy at this place immediately. I just started thinking that I naturally like to sell and was attracted to all the people. It meant a lot to me to grow my food and for it to be organic, specifically. It demands consideration for the environment and I really avoid all types of non-organic foods. They have a bad effect on the earth as glysophate filters down into the soil. There's a connection between pesticide exposure and health problems too. And on the flip side, there's a connection between eating organic foods and strong health. It's challenging to farm organically, but I don't think I could farm if I had to use chemicals. You definitely have to have a belief and conviction about it."

Beyond running Sundance Farm, if you've been to our Market you've come across the hot, fresh smell of fried dough. And to who should we give props? In additional to growing sunflowers and produce, Kim is the operator of a Fried Dough stand.

"Francis Borne, my Italian grandmother whose house I was born in, had a meatball hut that was next to my grandfather's gas station in the 1960s. The memory of that, I think, is where the creation of the fried dough shack came from."
